The Game Awards really does feel like it has been more chock full of exciting stuff than ever this year so far, with a ton of great announcements about what gamers can expect from the next year or two.

Amongst those, we have two confirmed new games in the storied Lara Croft series, with brand new adventure Tomb Raider: Catalyst and remake of the first game in Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis leading the way.

Divinity was also confirmed as the game responsible for that weird monolith that showed up in Joshua Tree and Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic is set to take us back to one of the franchise's most exciting periods, all under the guidance of the director from the original Knights of the Old Republic release.

It turns out that wasn't the only thing for Star Wars fans to get excited about, as another game is on the way that should final help us realise one of our greatest dreams.

Star Wars: Galactic Racer has just been confirmed at The Game Awards, and it really does look like the pod racing game we've been asking for ever since the concept first appeared in the prequel trilogy.

Developed by Fuse Games, Secret Mode and LucasFilm Games, we don't know too much about what it will actually be like when it gets here, but the footage we've seen so far really looks like high octane, realistic racing.

We were treated to a relatively lengthy trailer that showed off what we can safely assume will be some of the game's tracks, taking in everything from brutal ice to barren deserts.

The voiceover mentions the Empire banning pod racing, so when exactly the game is supposed to be set is anyone's guess, though at the very least it has to be at some point after that.

They didn't go as far as giving us any information about what will be going on under the hood, so it's difficult to know if the emphasis is on single-player or multiplayer. That said, if it doesn't include couch co-op at the very least, then I'm organising an impromptu riot.

We also don't get much in the way of a proper release date just yet, though it is coming at some point in 2026, so we at least won't be waiting beyond that (assuming there are no dreaded delays).
