Star Wars: The Acolyte Season 2 Given Fresh Hope

Hope is like the sun. If you only believe in it when you can see it, you’ll never make it through the night..

The cancelleation of Star Wars: The Acolyte realy did feel like a bit of a knee jerk reaction from Disney and Lucasfilm, with the show still trying to find its feet in a difficult entertainment landscape.

Much of that decision will likely have come down to the staggering amount of money that the show cost to make, with financial reports listing the final cost for the first season at a pretty ridiculous £190 million ($230 million).

Couple that with the pretty toxic online conversations surrounding the show and it isn't massively surprising that the production companies chose to mitigate risk and cut their losses.

That said, there are still slim hopes of a return in some form for those who enjoyed elements of The Acolyte, whether that be for a second season or for the more well-liked characters appearing in other Star Wars shows.

Surveys Could Show A Brighter Future for The Acolyte

Over on Reddit, one user shared the interesting revelation that they had been sent a survey by Disney about The Acolyte, and whether they enjoyed the show. Additionally, they also asked for the viewers opinion on specific characters including Sol, Qimir, Indara, and the twins, though the coven were notably excluded.

Now it's important to note that the OP receives fan surveys every week, so this is essentially just the latest one of those. That said, it is curious that they wanted detail around specific characters, as well as the show itself.

That leaves the door open for the more well-received figures to return in other Star Wars properties, or even for the show to potentially return, if the feedback is positive enough.

Many in the comments seemingly do want to see that happen, with one saying, "That’s very interesting. I hope and wish that they would at least consider using Sol and Qimir again for whatever."

"They recently released a Stranger action figure which pre-sold out through a lot of vendors. Money talks for the mouse, so they may be thinking about things," another added.

A third looked in depth at the practicalities of doing so, saying, "There was so much potential in The Acolyte for future stories, but wouldn’t any storylines with Qimir involve Osha as well? Or would she train with Plagueis and Qimir would run off to start the Knights of Ren? I’m hopeful that these characters would be able to continue their stories, and how exactly would Sol figure into this? As a Force Ghost haunting Osha?"

Whatever happens, there are plenty of people (myself included) who hope the chapter isn't totally closed.
