The newer Star Wars films and series haven't hit as consistently as fans, or indeed Disney, would have liked, but tales of their lack of quality have been overstated in many cases.
In particular, they have done a great job of introducing interesting characters with mysterious backstories, as well as powerful groups and nefarious organisations that seek to further their own agendas in the galaxy far, far away.
Though Star Wars: The Acolyte wasn't for everyone, and there are absolutely legitimate criticisms there, it did manage to continue the vein of good form that many recent productions have had in introducing cool lore.
Some of that lore may even have been missed up to this point, with a new tidbit of information in an entirely different property pointing to that very idea.

Over on Reddit, one user shared a screenshot from Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes that could point to Qimir/The Stranger being the founder of the group that goes on to become the Knights of Ren from the films.
The lore drop reads as follows: "Hailing from the High Republic Era, this enigmatic warrior exploded onto the scene in the Forest of Khofar in the Disney+ show, The Acolyte. The Stranger's power is undeniable, cutting down an entire team of Jedi with relative ease. Acting as a mentor to both light and dark side Force users, he seeks to gather a group of powerful students whilst pursuing his own agenda."
It's that last part that really has tongues wagging, and the comments section was liable to get quite excited as well.
"I'm actually leaning into the Knights of Ren theory with him more and more these days. The Knights of Ren have a tradition that every new member needs a 'good death' in order to qualify. Qimir demanding that his pupils kill a Jedi with no weapon would seem to align with that ideal," one read.

"Mark my words, someday Acolyte is getting a tie-in comic, and The Stanger will be revealed to have inspired or created the Knights of Ren. The hints and clues about the Knights are everywhere, and the Knights are kinda having a moment in the comics right now," another added.
A third was also keen on the idea, with reservations, saying, "I’d be very happy for Qimir to spin off into some solo story or new narrative as a renegade student of Plagueis, and an originator of the Knights Of Ren. The only thing is the setting - I don’t feel anything about the show really worked very well, and this is part of the timeline which now feels like a fairly redundant place to go back to."
Whatever the creatives plan with The Stranger and the Knights of Ren, it's a cool story thread that shouldn't be left entirely out in the cold, now that The Acolyte has been cancelled.
