Star Wars Viewers Horrified to Discover Darth Plagueis' True Form After All These Years

How ugly

Star Wars viewers will likely be horrified for our first, proper look at the legendary Darth Plagueis in live-action.

I say legendary because as far as Star Wars characters go he’s arguably one of the most mysterious and important characters in the series.

Most only know him from the Tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise memes but when you look past Palpatine’s ramblings you’ll learn he basically kicked off the prequel trilogy, with his quest for immortality spurring on the future Emperor to sabotage the prophecy and secure his place as the galaxy’s ruler.

We were so close to seeing some of this story play out too, as Plagueis appears at the end of Star Wars: The Acolyte and would have likely had an important role in the show’s second season, which is something we’re never going to get.

We don’t get a good look at him in the show’s finale either, only a partial glimpse at his face and his bony fingers caressing the cave wall he’d hidden behind. He’s actually quite scary but his concept art paints a clearer picture.

The concept art shown shows us his entire head rather than having it shrouded by a hood, and if you’ve read the comics you’d know it’s a pretty spot-on interpretation of him for a live-action setting.

One image even shows him in full Sith attire wielding a red lightsaber, suggesting his planned future appearances would have him duel with some Jedi, or at the very least ignite his crimson blade to intimidate someone.

Star Wars: The Acolyte is unfortunately dead in the water. There’s no hope for a second season no matter how loudly fans cry for one, and the only continuation we’ve gotten is a series of novels featuring some of the characters introduced through the show.

It’s a damn shame too because while it had its flaws, I didn't think the overall plot was that bad, and the final episode set up some interesting developments for another season.

If Disney is to salvage anything from the show though it should be Darth Plagueis. There’s still so much we don’t know about him and it’d be a shame to ignore him completely, given his importance prior to the prequels.

While I don’t think we’ll get another live-action depiction, they could at least feature him in an animated project, perhaps Tales Of The Sith?
