Star Wars Community Praises 10/10 Darth Plagueis Prequel: 'Worth The Wait'

The tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise

The prequel trilogy may have been very divisive at the time of their individual releases, but since then, fans have grown to love them despite all of their flaws, and that's mostly thanks to some genuinely excellent storytelling.

The Revenge of the Sith, in particular, is now seen as one of the best films in the entire series, as Anakin finally succumbs to the machinations of Emperor Palpatine and crosses over to the dark side to become Darth Vader.

One of the most important moments in his fall comes when he and Palpatine (then still pretending to be nothing more than a politician) discuss the tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise.

Within that story, Plagueis was described as one of the most powerful Sith ever, able to reverse the deaths of those he deemed worthy, until he was killed by his young apprentice (who turns out to be Palpatine himself).

Though we don't have too much canon to look at from the Disney era of Star Wars, there is still a Legends book that gives us a great look at Plagueis' life, and fans are still praising it to the hilt.

Over on Reddit, one player shared how they recently read Darth Plagueis, the Star Wars Legends book that was published back in 2012, and which gives us a ton of info about the character's life.

Though it is somewhat apocryphal these days, given the fact that Legends is not canon since Disney took over the running of the franchise, it's an absolutely beloved piece of literature, as the comments prove.

"This is why I’m glad that The Acolyte was cancelled."

"Despite not hating the show personally, I love this book infinitely more. It slots neatly into my own personal head canon for the series. "

I’m glad that Palpatine’s origins and Plagueis’ personality have not been altered in any new media," one comment read.

"I greatly enjoyed the characterizations of Palpatine and Plagueis. It’s a shame Luceno wrote the book before the name “Sheev” was established, so there had to be that awkward “he was only known as Palpatine” plot point," another added.

"Currently in the early chapters of the book and I’m already blown away," a third confirmed.

If you haven't had a chance to read it yet, you absolutely should give it a go, and copies are very reasonably priced at major retailers right now to boot.
