Star Wars fans blown away by stunning Darth Vader prequel

Prepare to be immersed

Star Wars fans are overlooking an incredible prequel, but there’s perhaps a likely reason for that.

If you’re a fan of Darth Vader, which I should think is pretty much everybody, then Vader Immortal is an experience I heartily recommend you check out.

This prequel adventure is both memorable and heaps of fun, but it’s also told via virtual reality.

Vader Immortal: A Star Wars VR Series launched in three instalments back in 2019 - and it goes without saying that you’ll need a VR headset if you want to enjoy it.

As for which headsets, Vader Immortal launched on the Oculus Quest and Oculus Rift (it’ll also work on the Oculus Rift S and Oculus Quest 2) before it was ported over to PlayStation’s PSVR.

While VR gaming continues to expand, I wouldn’t exactly say it’s quite at the point of being mass appeal so I’m imagining some of you won’t be able to follow up on my recommendation with this one.

You could, alternatively, check out a ‘let’s play’ online. You won’t benefit from the game’s immersion, but you’ll still get to enjoy a cool Vader tale this way.

The general premise is this: a force-sensitive smuggler is taken captive by Vader who needs the smuggler to unearth an ancient artifact.

As I said, it’s a prequel, taking place between the events of Revenge of the Sith and Rogue One, so if you’ve just finished Andor season two, you’re in the right time period.

Despite launching quite a number of years ago, Vader Immortal is still garnering new fans.

“Late to the party, but just tried Vader Immortal,” wrote Reddit user HamesonTheWise.

“I know I’m four years behind, but I just played the first episode at my little brother's place yesterday. I haven’t done much VR but wow, I was floored. Piloting a ship above Mustafar, wielding a lightsaber, seven foot Vader getting in your face. I was blown away at how much of an immersive Star Wars experience it was.”

Plenty of fellow fans agreed.

“I loved Vader Immortal, being so immersed in the Star Wars universe made me feel like an eight-years old again. I kinda wish I still had my VR headset to replay this gem,” replied The_Joker_116.

“It's pretty much you living a Star Wars movie. Absolutely incredible game/experience. I highly suggest getting the other star wars VR games. Galaxy's Edge was pretty great too,” commented DerivitivFilms.

If you do have a VR headset lying around or just acquired one, make sure this is an experience you give a try.
