The Acolyte star, Manny Jacinto, says that the Star Wars franchise is missing a key driver, no, not that Driver, and that is love.
Before the launch of The Acolyte on Disney Plus, there was a lot of hype surrounding the new live-action series, set during the High Republic era, taking place roughly 100 years before the events of Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace.
However, The Acolyte was cancelled after just one season and left us on quite the cliffhanger, revealing a live-action Darth Plagueis for the very first time.
Everyone has their opinions on The Acolyte, but from my perspective, other than the character Qimir, played by Manny Jacinto, everyone was unlikable.

I had no desire to cheer for its heroes, its Jedi were dumb, and its writing was undelibratley silly. I wasn't sad to see the show cancelled, and that’s coming from someone who loves Star Wars.
That being said, some fans would love The Acolyte to return, and maybe that might happen, but I wouldn't recommend holding your breath. One person who would also love to see it return is the aforementioned Manny Jacinto.
With The Acolyte season two being cancelled, Jacinto believed that it had missed an opportunity to explore the developing relationship between his character and Oshamir (played by Amandla Stenberg), especially when it comes to the love between the two.

The Acolyte Had Love To Give
When TV Insider asked Jacinto if he’d like to see The Acolyte return, the actor replied: “I am always ready, and I would love to run it back if they’d have me.
"That was a role of a lifetime, and I’m incredibly proud of what we did in The Acolyte and with Oshamir, with that whole relationship.”
“I feel like with a lot of the franchises that we currently have, it’s missing the romance,” he continued.
“It’s missing a lot of love and relationships. We have the big fight scenes and the origin stories of these heroes and whatnot, but they don’t really have a relationship with other people.
“It’s such a weird thing. And that’s why I loved the Qimir and Osha relationship, because we were taking it back to having a relationship in this big world. I think we just need more of that. I think that’s what made the characters and the story more compelling as opposed to just having big fight sequences, which I loved.”
Star Wars is no stranger to love stories with the likes of Anakin Skywalker and Padmé Amidala, not to mention Han Solo and Princess Leia. So it may have been interesting to see how the potential love story in The Acolyte would have developed. But we may never know.
You can still watch The Acolyte season one on Disney Plus right now, just try not to get emotionally attached to it.
