We’re in the midst of a small Star Wars drought in terms of TV offerings.
It's hard to believed that we’re only a few months away from the one year anniversary of the series finale of the brilliant Andor.
It’s a shame that such a fantastic series only ran for two seasons, but I’m also glad it didn’t outstay its welcome.
Star Wars’ TV output is set to resume with a second season of Ahsoka which is due to land at some point this year, although no exact release date has been confirmed.
Advert
I don’t mind Ahsoka, but there’s other projects I prefer.
In particular, 2024 was a stellar year for the franchise. I personally adored The Acolyte, but there’s one more series I’d put right up there in my ranking with Andor.
If you haven’t yet watched Skeleton Crew, you should change that - especially as it looks as if the series is set to return for a second outing.
Lucasfilm is Finally Bringing Back One of Its Best TV Series
Skeleton Crew is truly unlike anything else in the Star Wars canon. It’s a Spielberg-esque coming-of-age adventure featuring a charming young cast and the always wonderful Jude Law.
Ever since that first season drew to a close in early 2025, I’ve been wondering whether the series might return but Star Wars Celebration 2025 came and went without any updates.
Skeleton Crew does function as a standalone tale, but it definitely left the door open for further adventures.

It looks as if showrunners Jon Watts and Christopher Ford may have finally settled on a new story.
As reported by GamesRadar+, Production Weekly recently stated that Season 2 of Skeleton Crew is “in development”.
The reputable site is known for posting production updates on major TV and film projects from Hollywood and beyond.
The only problem we have now is that we have no idea how far into development a new season is. My guess is pretty early.
Unfortunately, the next Star Wars Celebration isn’t due to be held until April of 2027, although D23 returns this year.
D23, if you don’t know, is Disney’s massive fan expo where huge panels are held announcing updates pertaining to the company’s films, television shows, theme parks, games, books, and more.
That’s taking place from 14 to 16 August, and I sense we may get the Skeleton Crew update we seek there.
I’m going to hope we get a renewal of The Acolyte too although that feels far less likely.
Listen, Qimir is cool as heck and you can’t just dangle a Darth Plagueis origin story in front of me then take it away.
For now, we’ll have to settle for Ahsoka which is … fine. It’s not a series that pushes boundaries or rocks the boat, but I’m sure its second outing will be okay.
