Star Wars: The Acolyte is making a surprising return in January 2026, and fans are already excited to get their hands on the upcoming release.
Considering how swift Disney were in cancelling it, Star Wars: The Acolyte is seemingly still on the minds of thousands of fans.
To be fair, whether or not Disney’s decision to can the show was premature or not, its ridiculously high budget likely made the decision an easy one– but that’s not stopped fans from constantly petitioning for its return.
It also doesn’t help that Disney keeps drip feeding The Acolyte’s fans small pieces of new content, such as the canon tie-in novels The Acolyte: The Crystal Crown and The Acolyte: Wayseeker.

Plus, one of the show’s biggest stars, Manny Jacinto, is very keen to see the show return, stating earlier this month that he would “love nothing more [than] to run it back”.
Disney seems weirdly incapable of just letting the show die a peaceful death, which potentially implies that they are planning to revive it in some way.
Case in point, they announced that a new book focusing on the series production, titled The Art of Star Wars: The Acolyte, is set to release on January 13 next year.
The upcoming book will showcase "production art, character and vehicle designs, planets, storyboards, and other breathtaking work created during the production of the hit Disney+ series", and also feature a foreword from series creator Leslye Headland.

Over on Twitter in a post featuring some of The Art of Star Wars: The Acolyte’s teaser images, fans are already excited to see what else it may contain.
“So much potential”, commented user @LukeNLPJ.
“The last group of photos!! What the hell was gonna go down?? Those look like KoR!” replied user @danibug727.
Hopefully this does mean that Disney is ramping up to revive the show in some way. Although a second season would be highly unlikely, some kind of spin-off featuring the characters isn’t impossible.

Personally, I just want Manny Jacinto back on my screen again (although I would watch that man read the dictionary from start to finish, so I’m not picky).
