Star Wars: The Acolyte Season 2 Renewal Opportunity Has Fans Feeling Hopeful

So you're telling me there's a chance!

Star Wars fans are optimistic that there’s a chance that season two of the cancelled Disney Plus series The Acolyte might be revived.

In August 2024, the Star Wars series on Disney Plus, The Acolyte, was unceremoniously cancelled after receiving a very mixed reaction from fans, despite some impressive streaming stats.

As a lifelong Star Wars fan, as much as I wanted to enjoy The Acolyte, it failed to connect with me, mostly due to its - in my opinion - unlikeable protagonists/antagonists, and having some of the dumbest Jedi ever, in the galaxy far, far away.

That being said, there are a lot of Star Wars fans who did enjoy The Acolyte, with many of those hoping that Disney will make a dramatic U-turn and bring the series back for its second season on the streaming platform.

In truth, it’s unlikely that we’ll get season two of The Acolyte, but at the end of the day, nothing is impossible, and those who still cling to its prospective return hope that a major announcement will be made at D23's upcoming spin off Destination D23.

The D23 Expo is an event that celebrates all things Disney, and by extension, Marvel and Star Wars. No date has been announced for the next mainline D23, but it is widely expected that the bi-annual event will take place in Los Angeles in 2026.

However, before the big D23 event arrives, its spin-off event (so to speak), Destination D23, takes place this weekend at Walt Disney World in Florida, United States.

With that in mind, Star Wars fans are hopeful that The Acolyte is not quite dead and buried just yet.

“Happy first anniversary to The Acolyte. I’ll always miss you, so here’s Manny [Jacinto] and me,” tweeted WEDenterprise, sharing a photo featuring the actor who played The Stranger in the Disney Plus series.

“I really hope Disney has changed its mind and announces it will bring back The Acolyte at D23 this weekend,” said Twitter user SeanDMcDonough.

“I’m hoping for Star Wars: Skeleton Crew and The Acolyte season two news!” exclaimed Bangtan_Mann.

I’d be somewhat shocked if The Acolyte were to get its second season revived, but for those who would love for that to happen, I’ll have my fingers crossed.

The Acolyte season one is available to stream right now on Disney Plus.
