Yarr matey, it's off to the brig with you, as there's a new freindslop game that we're destined to plough hours into with our pals. The question is, in a world where ragdoll games are multiplying like a plague of locusts, can RetroStyle Games’ Last Pirates: Die Together uncover the buried dubloons, or is it destined to sink before we can hoist the main sail?
All of these Steam games have their own various USP, and when it comes to Last Pirates, its promising premise makes it a four-person horror co-op with a nautical twist.
When you've finished playing Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, why not take a dip into this weird and wonderful world where treasure isn't the only 'booty' you're after?
What is Last Pirates: Die Together?
Like it or loathe it, the booming friendslop trend shows no sign of dying, so we might as well make the most of Last Pirates: Die Today. The game's description explains how this online co-op is full of "chaos, monsters, and LOTS OF BOOTY!"
You see this in the trailer, as players are encouraged to slap giant rubbery backsides. That doesn't seem to be the main point of Last Pirates: Die Together, with you and your crew using unimaginably long arms to grab as much loot as you can for yourselves and the captain.

Imagine if Mr. Men's Mr. Tickle was in Pirates of the Caribbean.
To do that, you're encouraged to use your limbs to dismantle everything you can on this haunted island and grab the goodies. Be warned that others will try to do the same, so you might need to hide or get one of your crewmates to cause a distraction if you're going to make it back in one piece.
If you want to know about the obsession with butts, dead teammates are revived by collecting and matching body parts – especially backsides.
Combining physics-based comedy with intense survival horror, this doesn't sound like your standard R.E.P.O. reskin. That hasn't stopped others from obviously comparing the pair.

Whan does Last Pirates: Die Together release?
Last Pirates: Die Together is tipped to enter early access on Steam on August 18, 2026. The team says the game is entering early access for a hopeful period of six months to iron out any kinks. The playtests and demos have apparently welcomed over 100,000 players, with devs already reshaping key systems, adding new content, and fixing bugs across the board.
We're promised regular content and balance updates that will be shaped by player feedback up until the eventual 1.0 release.
There is a caveat that the team won't ship the game until it's ready, meaning that the six-month early access period could extend a little longer.
Looking further ahead, Last Pirates: Die Together vows to add more locations, enemies, and bosses, as well as more character customisation, a deeper progression system, and even cursed loot.
Even as you're reading this, RetroStyle Games says it's working on a major update.
While we'll admit even we're getting a bit tired of the friendslop churn, it'll be interesting to see if Last Pirates becomes the next streaming sensation like Mecca Chameleon and whether it can stand the test of time, or is it just another indie booking a one-way ticket to Davey Jones' locker.
