breaking news

The Game Awards is now well underway with the first prizes going out to deserving developers and trailers for upcoming games giving us a look at the year to come.
We've already seen plenty of exciting upcoming indie titles, and Clair Obscur has managed to scoop its first of what could be many awards on the night, as it takes home the prize for Best Independent Game.
That rounded off the introductions and although we have only just started the main show, there has already been a huge announcement that will have blown away most of the people watching in the audience, as well as everyone seated at home.
Finally, Back to the Old Republic

Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic is a single-player action roleplaying game directed by Casey Hudson, who was previously director on Knights of the Old Republic.

The trailer opens on a ship flying through the darkness of space, as it cruises into a dark and foreboding planet that does have Earth-like properties including mountain ranges and vast oceans.
After landing and leaving the ship, a character that could turn out to be the game's protagonist heads off flanked by two guards towards an enormous crashed ship, that isn't immediately recognisable but looks like a capital ship of some kind.
Inside the ship, a hot forge burns and there looks like there is some kind of movement inside, but we cut away before it's possible to make out what it is.
If you aren't familiar with the Old Republic period via the original run of games or any of the surrounding novels that cover the era, it really is one of the coolest times in Star Wars' wide canon.
Many of the figures on both sides of the Force at the time are considerably more powerful than their equivalents in the eras covered by the movies. Some of the tales surrounding the Sith and their actions at the time are scarcely believable, and seeing them rendered in a new game built with Unreal Engine 5 is sure to be spectacular.
The addition of Casey Hudson to the development team is also sure to please more than a few, via his aforementioned work on the original Knights of the Old Republic game, as well as the Mass Effect trilogy that inspired a generation of RPGs and still stands as one of the greatest narrative series of all time.
