The Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake might finally be upon us with a reveal teased for this Star Wars Day.
May The Fourth is the one day of the year dedicated to all things Star Wars with countless deals, re-runs of the Star Wars films and, of course, new announcements.
Fans are expecting some big stuff this year and not just another collaboration with Fortnite, though there’ll be plenty of those too.
The one we’re all waiting for is the long-awaited remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic…
The remake was announced back in 2021 with a tasty CGI trailer of Darth Revan igniting his lightsaber in a darkened room.

Star Wars fans were overwhelmed with hype but the excitement quickly died down when no updates on the remake were shared.
It was originally being developed by Aspyr but was unexpectedly canned, with development shifting over to Saber Interactive instead.
No news on the remake has been shared since but as Star Wars makes preparations for its big day, Darth Revan and other members of the KOTOR gang have made sneaky appearances in new marketing material.
Some new artwork was shared depicting various characters seen in the Star Wars universe and a good third of said artwork was dedicated to Knights of the Old Republic.
Darth Revan, Bastila Shan and HK-47 were amongst the characters featured and it’s understandably got gamers hyped for a new reveal.
May The Fourth might finally give us another look at the long-awaited remake whether it be another CGI trailer like the initial reveal or a full-on gameplay showcase.
Aspyr’s take on the remake has leaked in the years following its reveal with many claiming that it was going to ditch the turn-based combat of the original in favour of a hybrid system. By hybrid we mean something akin to the Final Fantasy VII remakes.
Under Saber Interactive, it’s believed the turn-based combat has been brought back to create a more faithful reimagining, hopefully taking some inspiration from other great modern RPGs like Baldur’s Gate 3.
Whether this is actually the case remains to be seen but given this new tease, it looks like we’ll know more very soon.
Should the remake perform well it’d hopefully lead to a remake of its sequel, or an entirely new RPG set after the events of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II.
May The Fourth is just a few days away so mark your calendars. Even if we don't get an update on the Knights of the Old Republic remake, it’s still bound to be a great day for new reveals and updates on upcoming projects.
