Rockstar Games confirms LA Noire is making its long-awaited return

Rockstar Games is bringing back L.A Noire but there is a catch

Popular crime thriller from Rockstar Games L.A Noire is making a return, however, it’s perhaps not quite the return we had hoped for.

L.A. Noire was originally released in 2011 for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 before making its way to other platforms in the years that followed which even included a VR adaptation. For its time, especially on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, with its incredible visuals and life-like animations thanks to its motion capture technology called MotionScan, it pushed console hardware to the limits.

As detective Cole Phelps, players would integrate suspected criminals and would reply on their facial expressions to make the right QTE judging call whether it’s to excuse or pressure for vital information. That being said, having autism and struggling to read facial expressions and body language in real life, as much as I loved L.A Noire, making those judgement calls in this Rockstar Games classic was a bit hit and miss, to say the least.

For years, fans have been hoping to see an L.A Noire sequel but as of yet, those calls have been ignored by Rockstar Games as its focus has been on series’ such as Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption. There were plans for a spiritual successor with a somewhat of unsavoury name announced in 2012 but that project was cancelled in 2016, never to return.

While fans wait for the sequel that may never arrive, those that subscribe to GTA Online subscription service GTA+ will soon be able to claim L.A Noire at no extra cost. “We recently added Red Dead Redemption — with access to Undead Nightmare — to the stellar games included With GTA+ library, and members can look forward to more Rockstar classics becoming available later this year, including L.A. Noire and Bully,” announced Rockstar Games in a Newswire website update.

Rockstar Games hasn't announced when GTA+ subscribers will be able to claim L.A Noire and Bully but they will both be available at some point this year. In addition to the two video game freebies, subscribers will also be gifted with a bonus GTA$5,000,000 to spend in GTA Online throughout the summer as well as other DLC goodies.

As for what else the future holds for Rockstar Games fans, Grand Theft Theft Auto VI will be released in 2025 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. A PC release date is yet to be announced but we’re sure that announcement will be made one day.
