Red Dead Redemption TV series can never compare to the games, fans fear

Right now, it seems that for a video game to truly make it in the world, it needs a TV or film adaptation. Because those are cool again now!

While video game adaptations are absolutely nothing new, it feels like since the release of the first season of The Last of Us, gamers have a very different perception of the concept. Suddenly, everyone seems to have gone from expecting the worst from them, to actually encouraging the idea. Which is a good thing really, considering how many are currently in the works (including the God of War and Horizon Zero Dawn TV series, and the Ghost of Tsushima movie).

As such, it’s little wonder that many Red Dead Redemption fans have started clamouring for a TV adaptation of the games, too. I mean, it makes sense, right? However, some are concerned that if it did happen, it’d never be able to live up to the quality of the existing titles.

“They would never be able to capture the beauty and meaning of the story in a series or a movie,” Reddit user Boromirrealhero01 wrote. “Nah, they weren’t just voice actors, they actually acted the parts with motion capture. No one else would do it justice,” agreed mekakoopa. “I honestly don’t see the need. What would a show/movie bring to the table that the game doesn’t?” questioned MrBonso.

It’s fair to say some things are better left alone. However, English actor Rahul Kohli previously told GAMINGbible that he’d love to see a Red Dead Redemption movie happen, and if it did, he’d be down to play John Marston. He said: “If we're allowed to skew timelines and we can start having British-Asians in Westerns in the 1800s then yeah, I'm in.”
