Red Dead Redemption 3 Release Date Prediction is Adorably Optimistic

Oh to have hope

Despite Red Dead Redemption 3 not having been announced and/or confirmed, one fan believes that the highly anticipated sequel is just around the corner.

Hey, some people are just optimistic, ok?

There is no denying that Rockstar’s Red Dead franchise is one of the most beloved in gaming thanks to its iconic characters, heartbreaking narratives, incredible attention to detail and just offering an overall enjoyable experience.

Kicking off with Red Dead Revolver back in 2004 and being followed by Red Dead Redemption in 2010 and more recently, Red Dead Redemption 2 in 2018, the franchise may not have a lot of instalments under its belt but that has not stopped its popularity over the past two decades.

So it is perhaps no surprise that fans are eager to hear confirmation on a potential Red Dead Redemption 3 but Rockstar seems in no hurry to give the players what they want by either confirming nor denying its existence.

It makes sense considering that Rockstar is currently hard at work on wrapping up development for Grand Theft Auto VI before it launches worldwide on 26 May 2026.

However, this could potentially mean that its attention will then turn back to its Red Dead series.

That is what one fan over on r/reddeadredemption seems to think after posting the following prediction.

“If we take into the fact that RDR2 was written more or less right after the release of RDR and same with GTA V with GTA IV, it's a fair assessment to say we should expect our third installment of the series by around 2026-2027 at the earliest.

Depending on the engine, realism, etc maybe 2028.”

As I said, this is pretty optimistic and not an opinion I would share myself to say the least.

If anything, it is a comment by user KingGuy420 that seems a lot more realistic, albeit upsetting.

“It would be a minimum of 5 years between GTA6 and RDR3. Minimum,” they shared.

“And that's only if the rumors about R* working on a new IP isn't true.

If they are working on a new IP, RDR3 will be 2035... at least. Probably more like 2038.”

It is a sad realisation but one that definitely makes more sense but hey, maybe we will be surprised.

Only time will tell.
