Red Dead Redemption Remade in RDR2's Engine, and I Need it Now

A glimpse at what could be

The dust has settled on the latest round of Red Dead rumours.

You may recall that insiders surfaced earlier this year claiming that Red Dead Redemption 2 would be receiving a new-gen update.

Supposedly, the update would bring a 60fps option to the game and admittedly, this did feel like a plausibility - especially as the rumour dropped around the same time that Rockstar Games also randomly decided to start supporting Red Dead Online with new content again.

To this day though, nothing has yet surfaced.

That’s not to say it won’t - some insiders claimed the update was targeting an autumn release - but the initial hype has certainly died down either way.

For now, if fans want new content, they’ll have to look to that which is made by fellow fans.

One of my personal favourite projects is by YouTuber soundslikepizza who previously remade Red Dead Redemption’s trailer in Red Dead Redemption 2’s engine.

It’s so well done and a great look at what a full Red Dead Redemption remake may look like.

You can view the trailer for yourself below.

As I said, this is just a mock-up trailer; it’s not something you can play or ever will be able to (unless Rockstar surprises us all with the real deal).

That hasn’t stopped this fan project from impressing and delighting fellow fans though.

“This is excellently made. The costumes, the cinematic angles and choice of dialogue. Fantastic choice in music too. Well done,” wrote one viewer.

“What a great thing it would be if Rockstar released a remastered version of Red Dead Redemption. Even today, RDR1 remains one of the best games, so a remastered version would only improve it,” another added.

The demand is clearly there for a remake, but Rockstar has never concerned itself all that much with the past.

Certainly, it’s no stranger to remasters but they’ve never been what’s garnered the studio acclaim; far from it.

If anything, I think we’re better holding out hope for a Red Dead Redemption 3 announcement, although we’ll have to wait for the GTA VI dust to settle first.
