Red Dead Redemption 2 might finally be getting that Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 upgrade, as well as a new release.
Rockstar Games’ best game (yes I said it) has been begging for some form of re-release or update on modern platforms, as the version we’ve currently been playing is still the Xbox One/PlayStation 4 version.
Regardless, it’s still drop-dead gorgeous, so imagine what it’ll look like with better hardware backing it up.
This comes from GameReactor which claims to have a source close to Rockstar Games that confirmed Red Dead Redemption 2 is getting an upgrade, but it hasn’t been officially confirmed yet so take it with a pinch of salt.

Alongside this news was also the claim that Red Dead Redemption 2 will be getting a re-release on the Nintendo Switch 2, which does sound a bit far-fetched but hey, Cyberpunk 2077 is launching on the Nintendo console this year so why not right?
As for the upgrade, it’s believed it’ll be free for those who already own Red Dead Redemption 2, but if Rockstar starts charging for it, it’s going to upset a lot of people.
Given how Rockstar Games is already in hot water for delaying GTA VI to May 2026, it’d make sense for it to release the upgrade to curry favour with disappointed fans.
That said, it's also claimed that Rockstar is gearing up to a release another version of GTA IV, not a remaster mind you, just a re-release of the original version likely with all DLC included and a touch-up to the resolution and framerate.

If the rumours are true and we're getting a GTA IV re-release as well as a new-gen upgrade for Red Dead Redemption 2, it could be a pretty stacked year for Rockstar Games even without GTA VI.
