Red Dead Redemption 2's new update leaves players divided

Red Dead Redemption 2 fans have been left thoroughly disappointed by the game's latest update, which has improved seemingly nothing.

You really wouldn’t think that Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the greatest games of all time based on the amount of attention it gets from Rockstar. Despite its overwhelming success, neither the single player game or its online counterpart, Red Dead Online, have received any significant updates in what feels like forever.

Last year, Rockstar put the final nail in Red Dead Online’s coffin when it announced that no new major themed content updates would be coming to the game, despite the calls from fans for it to be given as much attention as its rival, GTA Online. As for Red Dead Redemption 2, it’s genuinely shocking that it’s never received any story DLC, or a new-gen update to bring it up to speed on PS5 and Xbox Series X. I think that’s probably why whenever a new update for the game comes out, there’s a little glimmer of hope in everyone that maybe this time, it’ll be something juicy. Unfortunately, it’s these hopes that have left everyone crushed after yet another disappointing update.

Before we get into it, take a look at some of the funniest wins and fails from Red Dead Redemption 2 below.

As ComicBook reports, last Friday (24 March) fans were able to kick off their weekends with a groundbreaking change to the game - “general maintenance”. Yup, as revealed in the patch notes on the Rockstar Support website, that was literally the only change. Thrilling. February's update might not have been the biggest, but at least it actually fixed a significant bug.

Over on Twitter, fans have been expressing their frustration: “When it takes Rockstar over a year to maintain a game,” @liminall_mind tweeted. “DDOS protection would be nice. Can’t even PvP without router going bye bye,” @decently_chill wrote.

One user even claimed that the update might have made some things worse: “They broke stuff… Collectibles are disappearing and fast travel tells you that you don’t have enough cash at times. Awesome!” @gamegenieny posted.

Yikes. With Rockstar putting all its focus on GTA VI, it seems very unlikely that any big changes will be coming to RDR2 any time soon.
