Red Dead Redemption 2 player uncovers grim truth behind The Mutant

Okay, this is terrifying

Red Dead Redemption 2 is a game filled with disturbing secrets. Whether you find yourself ambushed by the Night Folk while exploring the swamps or come across the grisly work of a serial killer, there's plenty of genuinely horrifying moments.

Among Red Dead Redemption 2's many freakish encounters is a horrifying Manmade Mutant that the player can stumble across while exploring the game's gorgeous open world.

Take a look at some of the best Red Dead Redemption 2 wins and fails below!

The Manmade Mutant is actually quite easy to miss, despite looking like nothing you've ever seen before. The beast is found inside a mansion in the Van Horn Trading Post in New Hanover. We learn, after some rummaging around, that the 'Immensa Creatura' was assembled by a twisted scientist who wanted to fuse animal and human parts into something... new.

Notes left by the creator confirm the body parts are all on ice, suggesting they had hoped to reanimate the beast. Fortunately for us, Immensa Creatura remains entirely immobile when we meet them, but dataminers have discovered this was not always the plan.

A Red Dead Redemption 2 player digging through the game's cut content found a horrifying truth: the Manmade Mutant was intended to be an actual character moves around. I can only assume this means it would have sprang to life in the mansion, giving the vast majority of players a heart attack before fleeing into the wilds to be hunted. This is perhaps the first piece of cut content I'm glad has remained cut.

Reddit user No_Interaction4027 shared a number of cut content NPC pedestrian models, and the Mutant is among them. This obviously implies Rockstar had bigger plans for it at some point before deciding against it.

All I can say is thank you, Rockstar. It was bad enough finding this things corpse in the game, if I'd had to bump into it in a dark Saint Denis alley I'm not sure I'd have survived.
