Red Dead Redemption fans are still holding out hope for more western content, with many speculating that a remaster of the original game, as well as Red Dead Redemption 3, could be in the works. Even the voice actor for John Marston has expressed interest in returning if Rockstar Games go ahead with sequels/prequels.

Take a look at some of our favourite Red Dead Redemption 2 wins and fails below.

Compared to the post-launch support Grand Theft Auto V has received, the DLC offerings for Red Dead Redemption 2 have been abysmal. I mean seriously, no Undead Nightmare mode is a crime. It’s gotten so bad fans are petitioning for Rockstar to create a single-player DLC for the title, though with development efforts laser-focused on Grand Theft Auto VI, and other fans calling for completely different projects and remasters, Rockstar is seemingly stretched thin.

Luckily, the dedicated modding community is on hand to do what Rockstar Games won’t, adding a variety of new content to the game, such as new traversal methods, property management, as well as loads of new missions and bounties to pursue. One of the latest mods though, brings back some of the key locations from Red Dead Redemption, faithfully recreating them.

The Project New Austin: 1907 mod, created by DickHertz, states in its description: “Brings back those classic RDR1 locations and adds new life to those already in the game, making a more believable 1907 version of the map. Also includes that gritty, spaghetti-western New Austin color scheme from the first game. All locations are complete with peds, increased rider density, and RDR1 accurate layouts with as much detail as possible.”

The results are stunning, and the mod has done a perfect job of updating the old locations to the Red Dead Redemption 2 style. Honestly, it just makes us sad that there’s not a complete remaster of the first Red Dead Redemption, which would undoubtedly look amazing with a modern-day coat of paint.

For now, though we can only look ahead to the highly-anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI. It’s been a long wait so far, as we still have no idea of when it’s coming out or when we’ll get to see it officially. Safe to say, it’s gonna blow us all away when it drops though, especially if it’s as massive in scale as fans are speculating.
