Red Dead Redemption 2 has gotten an excellent expansion that brings back one of the best features from the first game.
Video game sequels are a tricky business as developers need to build off what came before with new and innovative ideas whilst also retaining familiarity for those players coming from the first game.
As far as sequels go, Red Dead Redemption 2 feels like the gold standard. Though of course it’s technically a prequel.
However one feature from Red Dead Redemption that didn’t make it into Red Dead Redemption 2 is night jobs, so if you’re missing them check out this expansion mod.

Titled Night Patrols this mod is basically just the night jobs minigame from Red Dead Redemption but ported over to the sequel/prequel. In short it gives you a little more to do when the sun sets rather than just head back to camp or enjoy the starry sky.
When exploring in the evening players will come across random crimes, and stopping these crimes by any means necessary will reward you with some cash.
You can stop a criminal any way you see fit but according to the mod's description you’ll earn more money for tying them up, and keeping them alive.
It’s a simple expansion but brings a mechanic that should have been in the final game, though that’s not to say there wasn’t plenty in Red Dead Redemption 2 to keep us occupied.

Bringing Back The Best Of Red Dead Redemption
Night patrols are a lot of fun but if you really want to kick your Red Dead Redemption 2 playthrough into another gear there are better mods out there, perfect for Halloween.
There are several mods that bring back Red Dead Redemption’s Undead Nightmare mode, something that many fans expected to see in Rockstar Games’ critically acclaimed sequel but unfortunately never saw the light of day.

In my opinion this was a huge missed opportunity, as while Red Dead: Online didn’t leave as much potential for updates as GTA: Online did, there was so much potential for singleplayer story expansions.
There is a cheeky reference to Undead Nightmare when you start playing as John Marston in the post-game but it’s just not the same.
Fortunately there are plenty of Rockstar Games fans out there willing to help the studio out with their own creations, so be sure to check out NexusMods for the latest and greatest additions to your game.
