Red Dead Redemption 2 Mexico expansion unites fans

There’s no doubting that Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the greatest games ever made, and it contains some spectacular detail across its map.

However, one thing fans would have loved to see, that Rockstar Games discarded during development, was the expansion in Mexico.

Red Dead Redemption 2 fans are lamenting the loss of a huge, expansive region over on Reddit, and it’s uniting them in their want for more experiences.

In a thread titled, “I always wondered why they left Mexico in the middle of its making,” fans speculate on what could have been.

One Redditor points to the success of GTA Online as the downfall of the Mexico expansion, saying, “I think they reserved the Mexico map for RD online DLC that never were finished because GTA online with laser bikes were much more attractive to kids.”

A theory comes from Howard_Stevenson as to what happened to the content - “I have another interesting theory. They just used the whole map from the first RDR for the reference, and then remade the existing layout with better assets for RDR2. Then they just roughly removed all Mexico props and major objects in one click.”

While you might argue that the game is big enough already, Rockstar Games was, at one point, known for its DLC plans, and fans expected more from Red Dead Redemption 2.

In fact, one Redditor comments they would have happily paid $30 for DLC, and continued, “I can't understand why they instantly moved on to GTA when fully finishing RDR2 would have been pretty straightforward when half of the assets are already in place, just needed some TLC and side quests added.”

Perhaps the developers simply ran out of time - their games are huge and, of course, they had to move over to GTA VI, but it doesn’t stop fans from being sad that Mexico never made an appearance.
