With such an expansive open-world, it is no wonder that secrets littered throughout Red Dead Redemption 2’s map are still being discovered to this day.
As we all know, Rockstar is a master of detail and thanks to the impressive scope of Red Dead Redemption 2, we may never truly know how many secrets, Easter eggs and mysteries are hidden throughout.
Despite the game recently celebrating its seven-year anniversary, Red Dead Redemption 2 is still as loved to this day, inspiring many to embark on countless playthroughs almost a decade on.
As a result, new discoveries are being found and that includes a surprising event captured by one user over on r/reddeadredemption.

Shared by user Infamous_Copy304, a brief video gives us a glimpse at the mysterious event which led them to ask, “Does anyone have any clue as to what happened? Is it just a graphical glitch?”
The video in question showcases Arthur riding along through the snowcapped hills at night, with just a mere lantern to guide the way.
However, in a blink-and-you-will-miss-it moment, a brief green flash can be seen appearing on screen before disappearing just as fast.
It seemingly appears on the horizon before travelling towards the camera and if I had to describe it as anything, it would be like a very bright, and brief, version of the Aurora Borealis.

So what was this strange phenomenon?
Much like Rockstar’s other open-world games, aliens can play a small yet impactful role with players being able to stumble across Easter eggs throughout the world.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is no exception with players able to witness several alien-like events such as spotting UFOs at Hani’s Bethel and Mount Shann.
Could this be another spotting or, as the original poster mentioned, is it just a graphical glitch?

Well, as you can imagine, fans soon gathered to share their own thoughts on this bizarre discovery.
“Bro got the GTA 5 alien encounter we all remember back in 2015 when playing at 3:20 AM on a school night,” one user shared.
However, another user had a more tech-savvy answer.
“It’s probably either a driver issue or the first signs of the GPU dying,” they explained.
“If you start seeing these artifacts more often and across other games, then it’s almost certainly the GPU.”
Definitely a less exciting answer but one that probably makes the most sense.
Nevertheless, it just goes to show how much Red Dead Redemption 2 still has to offer and with no sign of a sequel, these brief mysteries may be all that will keep us occupied over the next few years.
