Red Dead Redemption 2 players share this hilarious detail that many of us may have missed.
I’ve put hundreds of hours into finishing 2018’s masterpiece, from Rockstar Games, the aforementioned Red Dead Redemption 2 and yet, there are so many secrets that I have no clue about, and no doubt, that rings true for many other fans of the series.
Rockstar Games’ Red Dead Redemption 2 is considered to be one of the greatest games of all time, along with its 2010 sequel. Yes, for the benefit of newbies, the prequel (RDR2) was released eight years later.
There are a plethora of reasons why fans love Red Dead Redemption 2 so much, other than it still has tons of secrets we probably don’t know about. From its charismatic Arthur Morgan, its incredible story that will keep you hooked from start to finish, its satisfying gameplay and stunning visuals. I could go on.
This may be an oldie, but for fans like me, it’s brand new information (channelling my inner Phoebe Buffay) and is possibly one of the most hilarious secrets in the game.

In a video demonstrated by YouTuber Ardee Artoo (one of many content creators sharing this funny moment), if you go to the large bell at midnight in Rhodes (WOAH), just outside the train station, and throw a Tomahawk or Throwing Knife to ring it, the NPCs will react quite angrily. To be fair, they are trying to get some much-needed sleep, no doubt.
While they might take a second or two to react, they begin quite calmly by saying things like “Stop shooting that gun! I’m trying to get some sleep” before becoming more agitated with “Shut the hell up!” One will eventually say something very harsh about what you should do with your gun.
Sure, it’s odd that the NPCs refer to you as using a gun, and not the throwing objects, but it’s still yet another example of the attention to detail that the developers at Rockstar Games have gone to make Red Dead Redemption 2 as immersive as it is.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is out on PC, PlayStation and Xbox.
As for the next release from Rockstar Games, GTA VI is currently scheduled to be released on 19 November 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Its PC port hasn't been officially announced yet. Hopefully, after GTA VI, a new Red Dead will be next in line.
