Red Dead Redemption 2 companion mod lets you explore with friends

Red Dead Redemption 2 companion mod lets you explore with friends

Just a couple of yee haws in a pod

Red Dead Redemption 2 is a phenomenal game, but I'm sure we can all agree it can get a little bit lonely explore the wild west solo.

Most of the strangers you meet out on in the wilderness are all-too quick to point a gun in your face or cuss you out. Most of the time, things end in a hail of bullets. The world of Red Dead Redemption 2 is not a friendly one, after all.

Take a look at some of the best Red Dead Redemption 2 wins and fails below to see what we mean!

While we can explore Rockstar's stunningly detailed open world with friends in Red Dead Online, anyone who wants a companion for the road in Red Dead Redemption 2 is out of luck. Not surprising, given that this is a single-player game, but considering Arthur Morgan literally travels across America with a whole gang of outlaws, it's a shame he can't take one of them along for adventures outside of pre-determined missions.

Thankfully, there's a mod for that. The Red Dead Redemption 2 companion system mod does exactly what it says on the tin: allows you to pick an NPC and get up to mischief.

As of the latest update, you can recruit the following gang members: Javier, John, Bill, Hosea, Kieran, Sean, Charles, Lenny, Micah, Uncle, and Sadie.

Once they've joined you they'll help out in combat, ride around with you, relax at camp, go fishing with you, and even have conversations. It's a super impressive, immersive mod that really adds to the feeling of being part of a gang of outlaws. It feels like a fully fleshed-out system, rather than something that's just been tacked on to make it feel like Arthur is less alone.

So, if you ever wanted to enjoy a bit of exploration while Uncle complains about his lumbago, this is the mod for you.
