The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has an endless treasure trove of mods to install, almost all of which will make your playthrough better depending on your goals.

While many Skyrim mods will make quality-of-life changes to your game, many are all about adding new content like quests, weapons, and even entirely new regions.

The mod we’re talking about today is a quest mod called 'Death Approaches', and it sort of gives me Dark Souls vibes.

A teaser for 'Death Approaches' says, “Fall into the realm of sleep and you might awaken on the site of a battlefield. Within lies a nameless soldier, a man who questions what his life will mean once he has passed.”

The description is a little less vague, adding, “Death Approaches is a very short quest mod centred around a dream that the player can randomly fall into. Within this realm, they'll be greeted with the signs of battle and one surviving soldier, speaking with him and you'll hear his worries about what his life has truly meant and his worries on what it all meant when he has passed.”

In terms of actual gameplay, there’s not much here to go on, but I like how the dream will occur randomly when you choose to make your character sleep.

The reason it gives me Dark Souls vibes is because it sounds like Oscar of Astora who you encounter mere minutes into the first game. He’s also a fallen knight in deep reflection though, of course, his actions ultimately do make a change to the world as the player goes on to relink the First Flame.

Anyway I digress, the 'Death Approaches' mod seems pretty cool and would suit just about any playthrough given its random nature. You can download it for free from NexusMods right now.
