Less Welsh-ness this time around though.

This upcoming PC game looks like one that’ll appeal to Howl’s Moving Castle fans, and a free demo is available now.

We cover a lot of games here at GAMINGbible which tend to fall into the cosy vibe, and many of these end up being inspired by Studio Ghibli films.

For those who want to play a game with huge Howl’s Moving Castle influence, this new strategy action game from Sidekick Publishing may be the one to go with.

Well, I wouldn't say it's exactly "cosy", but there is a bit of that flair in there.

Wanderburg is a new “castle on wheels” action roguelite where you build a castle, equip it with all the necessary weapons and movement modules, and then send it out into battle against other castles and ground units.

In Wanderburg, you roll forward and use your castle to consume everything in your path. Mop up villages, wandering flocks, or smaller fortresses to feed your growth.

Meanwhile, enemy castles will show up to try and defeat you. Defeat them, and you’ll be able to upgrade and expand your own fortress.

You build up your castle piece by piece, using different modules to add to the fortress.

These modules include the likes of cannons, explosives, arcane wizard towers, archery, and many more tools to use in battle.

All of this is used to encourage finding fresh strategies and game-breaking combinations, where the more you expand your moving fortress, the more versatile each playthrough becomes.

Wanderburg's Free Demo Is Available For All

If you fancied checking Wanderburg out, you can download the free demo now as part of Steam Next Fest.

The demo offers a small slice of the game for you to play ahead of the full release, giving you access to some of the early levels and castle modules. It should be just enough for you to decide whether you’d like to play the full game or not.

“I quite liked this. It has that Mortal Engines type of feel to it and who doesn't like a castle on wheels anyway? Main criticism is the current UI, definitely feels placeholder-ey, but it is a demo so..” reads one review for the demo.

“Decided to give Wanderburg Demo a try. Very fun, especially after I decided to just go all in, ramming myself into everything. Damage from enemies feels a bit unbalanced, but it's good enough to spend some nice time with the demo,” reads another review.
