The Epic Games Store has refreshed its weekly free game line-up and this time around, PC users can claim two spooky titles just in time for Halloween - one of which is an unexpected throwback to the era of the PS Vita.
As always, once the games are claimed, theyâre yours to keep forever, with the current line-up available until Thursday October 29.
The latest line-up will save you around $24.99 and while that aforementioned PS Vita title is the lesser-valued of the duo at an RRP of $4.99, itâs clearly the headliner of the month.
Home is the perfect horror game for those who hate horror

If you had a PS Vita, you may remember a game by the name of Home, developed by BancyCo.

Set within a beautifully crafted pixel world, this murder mystery boasts the unique quirk of actually letting the player decide what happens.
âAwakened by an oncoming storm, you open your eyes to discover yourself in a strange, dark roomâtucked away in a house thatâs not yours,â begins the gameâs synopsis.
âAs you play the game, it changesâsubtly, almost imperceptiblyâto reflect your perspective. It's a horror game unlike any other, and as you'll discover, its truths are entirely subjective.â
Gameplay largely consists of exploration and participating in making branching decisions.
While Home is unsettling, its pixel world means that itâs not horrifically frightening or gruesome, falling more into the cozy horror category.
âA pixel-art horror mystery told through silence and second-person narration, trading monsters and answers for mounting dread about its own narrator, and the trade pays off,â reads one player review from Steam.
Itâs not a large undertaking either. You can complete the game in one to two hours, potentially even reaching 100% competition in just double that.

For more intense scares, try horde shooter Sker Ritual

For a more traditional horror experience, Wales Interactiveâs Sker Ritual has you covered with this 2024 release usually setting players back $19.99.
Playable solo or in groups of four, youâre tasked with fighting your way through endless hordes of supernatural enemies with the ability to unleash âgod-like Miracle powersâ.
âThe Quiet Ones swarm over Sker Island, controlled by Elisabeth's order. Failed experiments that turned ravenous, these monsters mercilessly hunt you down to make sure one thing is true - that you die,â teases the synopsis.
âWith elites and bosses that possess unique powers, you will be forced to adapt your play-style and arsenal to keep yourself from death's door.â
Iâll be honest, Iâve not played this one, but with an 84% score on Steam, it looks to be a solid offering - and graphically, Iâm impressed.
âBudget COD Zombies. Set in its own universe with six solid maps. Must play for zombies fans,â one player said.
Another added, âBetter than COD it's like Black Ops 2 Zombies but better especially if you like to grind weapons and skins you MUST earn it,â continuing the theme.
Again, both titles are only available to grab for one week, so itâs safer to act sooner rather than later. With Halloween just around the corner, you may as well claim some free entertainment.
