If you’re anything like me (and given that you clicked this article, I’m gonna assume you are), you’ve also probably been keeping up with Stray - an absolutely stunning indie game which will see you play as a very fluffy ginger cat with a backpack, exploring a decaying cybercity.

“Players will play as a stray cat, roaming surroundings high and low, defend against unforeseen threats and solve the mysteries of this unwelcoming place inhabited by nothing but unassuming droids and dangerous creatures,” publisher Annapurna Interactive previously said. “Lost, alone and separated from family, players must untangle an ancient mystery to escape a long-forgotten cybercity and find the way home.”

Take a look at the trailer for Stray right here.

The game was first announced all the way back in June 2020 (which genuinely feels like a lifetime ago by now), and although it was once said that it’d be releasing in October last year, as with many games, that release window got pushed back, and a vague “2022” was all we were left with. However, that’s now officially changed.

Yesterday, as reported by GamesRadar+, PlayStation tweeted out about a few upcoming indie titles headed to the platform, one of which, of course, was everyone’s favourite cat simulator. In the video attached to the tweet, we can see those glorious words - “Summer 2022”.

That might still seem a little vague, but think about it - it’s only two more days until we’re in May. One more month beyond that and it’s definitely summer, right? I’m not saying it’ll be out in June, but it can only be a few more months, tops.

If you’ve not been able to bag yourself Sony’s shiny new-gen console yet though, fear not - Stray is also on its way to PS4 and PC, so everyone will be able to step into the four fluffy paws of the best video game protagonist of all time. Apart from Xbox and Switch users, that is. Sorry folks.
