PlayStation's latest free PS5 game is one fans have begged for since launch

PlayStation users are thrilled at the inclusion of Sackboy: A Big Adventure in April's PS Plus lineup.

Yesterday, Sony confirmed the free games that are coming to PlayStation Plus Essential next month, and thankfully, they’re a lot better than March’s offerings.

To be fair, it’d have taken something terrible to beat the levels of disappointment that Battlefield 2042 incurred when it was revealed to be part of March's lineup. Sadly, the other games didn’t really make up for it either - Code Vein sounded like an intriguing RPG, but PS Plus subscribers ended up being “heavily disappointed” by it. Meanwhile, Minecraft Dungeons isn’t bad, but I can’t say that I saw anyone particularly excited about it.

PS Plus Extra and Premium subscribers fared a little better though, with one big highlight being the day-one release of Tchia. Take a look below.

From 4 April, subscribers will be able to claim Sackboy: A Big Adventure, Meet Your Maker and Tails of Iron. While I’ve got to say that I’m intrigued by the hand-drawn RPG Tails of Iron, given that the story features a rat on a quest to destroy a clan of frogs, most PlayStation users are hyped about the inclusion of Sackboy.

The 3D platformer is (obviously) a spinoff of the LittleBigPlanet series, and is particularly fun to play with friends. PlayStation users on Reddit who previously held off from buying the title are thrilled that they can finally give it a go.

“I always felt like Sackboy was the kinda game that was going to eventually be free on PS Plus once interest died down, so I waited. Called it!” wrote TheRealBroseph. “I've almost bought it several times now, a fantastic month for me personally, my daughter is a giant [LittleBigPlanet] fan and I've tried playing it with her but I always found it very simplistic but I've heard this game is a phenomenal platformer and I would love to play this with her,” dizorkmage added. “Yeah for me it was one I always have wanted to play and I always said to myself when I see it on sale at a good price I'll get it but [I] never pulled the trigger, there's always been something else that [grabbed] me more. Looking forward to trying it finally,” commented jda404.

If you do want to claim Battlefield 2042, Minecraft Dungeons and Code Vein for free, you have until 3 April to do so.
