The latest classic game to hit PlayStation Plus Premium is the one we’ve all been waiting for, and it might just convince me to pick up a subscription.
Earlier this week, Sony announced the new titles that would be coming to PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium in September.
The list includes some recent bangers like Crow Country, The Invincible, and Persona 5 Tactica, if you’re on the Extra tier. However, Premium users also get access to an old PS2 game that some of us have been waiting years to replay.
Legacy of Kain: Defiance is coming to PlayStation Plus Premium on 16th September, and I honestly can’t quite believe it.

Originally released in 2003, Legacy of Kain: Defiance is the fifth game in the Legacy of Kain series, and also the last one to be released before the series was put on ice for two decades.
From 16th September, PlayStation Plus Premium users will be able to play the PS2 version of the game on their active subscriptions, and it feels like a dream come true.
And it seems as though fans are feeling the same way.

“I would really love for this series to come back with proper funding and TLC,” wrote one fan on Reddit.
“I was hoping for a remaster if only to give Aspyr an excuse to change some of those fixed camera perspectives because they got in the way of platforming like a lot,” wrote another.
“Amazing. Defiance it's the only one I couldn't play back in the day.,” a third fan wrote.
I remember playing Legacy of Kain: Defiance on my PS2 all those years ago, and had a great time with it. I can’t say I’ve thought about the series much over the last twenty years, but this might be a good excuse to check it out again.

While the series hasn’t had a new entry since Defiance, Legacy of Kain was brought back in 2024 as a remastered collection of the two Soul Reaver games.
The remasters were handled by Aspyr, the developer also responsible for many Star Wars ports and the recent Tomb Raider remasters.
The Legacy of Kain series was primarily developed by Crystal Dynamics for most of its games, starting with the second game, Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver.
Following the release of Legacy of Kain: Defiance, Crystal Dynamics shifted over to being the primary developer of the Tomb Raider series, beginning with Tomb Raider: Legend in 2006.
