PlayStation Plus users have been warned of an unobtainable platinum trophy which will become impossible to earn after August 31.
The prospect of online-only trophies in various games is a dilemma that many trophy hunters dislike facing, as low player counts can kill off many achievements from being obtainable.
Another issue is the matter of the servers, where games which shut off their online access risk having their platinum trophies impossible to obtain if you're late to the party.
That’s certainly going to be the case for this hit PS3 open-world game that is set to have its online functions shut down at the end of August.
Advert
Both Infamous 2 and its standalone expansion, Infamous: Festival of Blood, will shut down their user generated content (UGC) features on August 31, restricting access to the custom content generated by players.
What makes matters worse for trophy hunters is that these games have a few trophies tied to this feature, making it impossible to collect the platinum after August 31.

How to unlock Infamous 2's online trophies
Infamous 2 has four trophies which require use of the UGC that contribute towards the platinum trophy (via PSN Profiles). I’ve listed them out below for your convenience.
- Level Up - Create a new mission using the UGC level editor.
- UGC Curious - Play 10 user-generated missions.
- UGC Veteran - Play 25 user-generated missions.
- Trail Blazer - Play 5 user-generated missions under the Newest filter.
In order to unlock UGC features, you’ll need to play around an hour of the story at which point you can start creating and playing custom missions.
After this point, getting the online trophies can be pretty easy. You basically need to play 25 user-generated missions in total, including five of the newest missions, and also create one yourself using the level editor.
PSN Profiles says that even searching for missions which say “trophies” will shorten this process even more, as they are levels specifically designed to be quick to finish.
If you’re after Infamous 2’s platinum trophy, it’s essential that you boss these out during August before the feature becomes permanently disabled. The game is available on PlayStation Plus Premium via streaming, making it easy to obtain for PS4 and PS5 users.
PSN Profiles also recommends that players take advantage of the UGC missions to clear all the collectibles in the game, which can be obtained by finding a user-generated level that will collect them for you (try searching for “auto collect” in the search field). Completing this will unlock the Shardcore and Just One More trophies.
Meanwhile, though it doesn’t have its own platinum trophy, Infamous: Festival of Blood also has one online trophy that you may want to clear in case you ever plan on 100%ing the game.
Similar to Infamous 2, this trophy will require you to play 20 UGC-created missions, which is pretty straightforward. Do note however that unlocking the UGC feature in Infamous: Festival of Blood requires you to beat the story, which takes around three to four hours in total.
