PlayStation Plus subscribers are about to be hit with all the nostalgia when a long-awaited PS1 classic finally joins the May 2026 line-up.
One of the best perks of subscribing to the PlayStation Plus Premium tier is the ever-expanding library of retro titles from the PS1, PS2 and PSP eras. Granted, it’s currently not the most complete library, but it’s always fun being able to take a trip down memory lane nonetheless.
In February 2026, Sony announced that the PS1 and arcade classic of the mid 1990s, Time Crisis, is coming to PlayStation Plus Premium in May, and now, that time has pretty much arrived.
Back in the day, light gun games were all the craze in arcades up and down countries worldwide, as well as on home consoles. Not only treating us to the likes of Time Crisis, but also bangers such as House of the Dead, Point Blank, Area 51 and much more.

However, when Time Crisis was announced for PlayStation Plus Premium, no release date was provided other than a tentative May 2026 window. While we still don’t know its release date at the time of writing, Reddit users have reminded us that Time Crisis should drop any day now.
“Reminder: Time Crisis will be coming to PS Plus Premium classics catalogue on May 19th, 2026,” posted Redditor kabirsingh84.
“No light gun. Not much point,” replied Agent 4777.
While it’s not possible to use a light gun on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 (officially), it was at least confirmed that Time Crisis will support gyro motion controls, so that’s something.
“Will there be trophy support?” asked CartoonistAlarming36. While it’s not been officially confirmed whether Time Crisis will have trophy support, going by most other PS1 games on PS Plus, I’d be surprised if it did, unfortunately.
“It’s the most accessible way to play Time Crisis at home since the early PlayStation days, but that price point is a little disappointing without including a few more games,” said GAMINGbible’s Olly in his review. “With prices ranging between £99.99 and £199.99, you’d have at least hoped for the sequels to be there too.”
As for when Time Crisis will drop on PS Plus, it might be worth keeping an eye on PlayStation socials for when that information is provided.
