Get yourself a free game

Xbox and PlayStation players can grab themselves a free game right now. That’s right, there’s another free game doing the rounds, and this one is a bright and colourful team-based game of heists and battles.

Hawked came out last August and has been a bit of a sleeper hit since then. It’s cartoon-style graphics are giving major Fortnite vibes, while the heist component is very much the current lightning in a bottle what with Payday 3 and The Finals. Hawked is free-to-play and can be downloaded right now.

It's all about heists right now with many new games focusing on looting

“Play solo or team up in 2- or 3-player squads. Fight monsters and rival Renegades in explosive PvPvE combat. Switch up your loadout for the heist at hand with powerful weapons and superpowered abilities.” Hawked is a lot of fun, with each round turning into a hectic caper of epic proportions. It’s taking a while for the game to get off the ground and find a large audience, but such is the life of a live service game nowadays.

If you give it a try, you’re sure to find some interesting mechanics and highlight moments playing with friends. Movement and momentum are everything as you dodge traps and try to avoid other players while everyone searches for treasure. Ultimately, teams are pitted against each other in the hopes of snagging the loot for themselves and you must do anything and everything to stop the other teams.

It’s not just other teams though, there are also monsters and weird creatures throughout the map guarding the treasure the only way they know how - by trying to kill you. Understandable, really. Hopefully with this push across consoles, Hawked will start to find a larger audience. You can see the potential in every moment from the trailer and that accessible graphical style should draw in those looking for something other than Fortnite to play.
