PlayStation owners are absolutely thrilled to hear that a Sony exclusive title is making its way to both Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X, proving that console war dorks are a silly little minority.
In case you haven’t heard the news, the 2024 democracy simulator Helldivers 2, developed by Arrowhead Game Studios and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, is coming to Xbox consoles on August 26.
Contrary to what some folks online think, this is actually the first game that Sony has ever published on Xbox.
Games that were previously PlayStation-exclusive have made their way onto Xbox consoles, like MLB: The Show and Death Stranding, but this is the first time Sony has been listed as the publisher of an Xbox port.

Basically, it’s kind of a big deal. So, what do the folks over on r/gaming think of all this?
“This is a win for gaming”, commented user shadowlarvitar.
“Live service games should be on multiple platforms, more players equals more engagement and even though Xbox is less popular than PS, it'll give a significant player boost for a time and probably bring in more PS/PC sales too for the groups/friends that are on different platforms… I own a PS but I never played as I don't keep PS plus going, I'll grab it for Xbox though.”
“More helldivers players is always a good thing. Maybe now we'll stop losing the wars against those robots”, commented user NomadFH.

Well, if you’re an Xbox owner and you’re already keen to jump in, just be warned that you’ll be paying $39.99 for the privilege, as Helldivers 2 isn’t going to be making its way onto Xbox Game Pass at launch.
In fact, I kind of doubt it ever will. It’s one thing for Sony to publish a game on Xbox, but it’s another thing entirely for them to give it away for free.
