PlayStation Plus drops a ton of new free games for May

The PlayStation Plus extra and premium tier line-up has arrived for May - and it's an improvement on this month's essential tier offerings.

Just like that, it is already time for yet another PlayStation Plus drop - and it’s a definite improvement on this month’s essential tier offerings. That’s for sure.

In case you missed it, essential tier PlayStation Plus subscribers can now grab GRID Legends, Descenders, and Chivalry II. It’s a line-up that’s been branded as ‘trash’ by subscribers, but others are saying that you shouldn’t write Chivalry II off. In fact, I have it on very good authority from GAMINGbible’s very own James Daly that it's an all-around good time. I’ll admit, it’s an odd choice including two vehicular based games in one month. If those titles aren’t up your alley though, I’m sure there’s something to delight you in the latest extra and premium tier line-up which includes 23 games this month.

Tchia is one of PlayStation Plus’ best new gems. Check it out via the extra tier catalogue.

That’s right. You have 23 games to pick from this month with the highlight undeniably being Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart which is one of the PS5’s best offerings. It’s worth pointing out that Humanity is a day one release. We did actually know this would be included in the line-up as it was unveiled previously. You essentially control a glowing Shiba Inu following a horde of people. It’s a little odd but looks weirdly fun.

The extra tier line-up is as follows: Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart (PS5), Humanity (PS4/PS5), Watch Dogs: Legion (PS4/PS5), Dishonored 2 (PS4), Dishonored: Death of the Outsider (PS4), Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin (PS4), Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition (PS4), Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration (PS4), Shadow of the Tomb Raider (PS4), Bus Simulator 21: Next Stop (PS4/PS5), The Evil Within 2 (PS4), Wolfenstein: Youngblood (PS4), Thymesia (PS5), Rain World (PS4), Lake (PS4/PS5), Conan Exiles (PS4), Rune Factory 4 Special (PS4), Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town (PS4), and Soundfall (PS4/PS5).

Premium subscribers will then also get: Syphon Filter: Logan’s Shadow (PS4/PS5), Blade Dancer: Lineage of Light (PS4/PS5), Pursuit Force (PS4/PS5), and Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered (PS4).

These titles will be available to download as of 16 May, if you’ve got time to put May’s big hitters like Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom aside to try out something a little less new.
