Yes, it’s that time again. The latest PlayStation Plus offerings are here. May’s essential tier line-up has leaked ahead of an official reveal later today and oh boy, it’s a pretty disappointing month.

Let’s recap on April first. You have just a few more days to nab this month’s essential tier offerings. In case you missed it, those are Sackboy: A Big Adventure, Tails of Iron and day one release Meet Your Maker. There’s also a ton of free extra DLC on the PlayStation Store for Sackboy that’s certainly worth picking up. The extra and premium tier drop then added a further 16 games to the subscription service, including Kena: Bridge of Spirits which has gone down very well with fans. We know that day one release Humanity will be landing on the extra tier in May, but now reliable leaker billbin-kun has leaked the essential tier line-up.

Yet to dive into Kena: Bridge of Spirits? Take a look below to see what a delight it is.

This month, essential subscribers can reportedly download GRID Legends (PS4/5), Chivalry II (PS4/5), and Descenders (PS4/5). I did warn you it was disappointing. I will quickly dive into each of these picks though. Let’s start with GRID Legends. Released just last year and created by Codemasters, GRID Legends is a racing game that scored a respectable 77 on Metacritic. The title does boast over 130 tracks to race on but if racing isn’t your thing, there’s little else to enjoy here.

Chivalry II was released back in 2021. Created by Torn Banner Studios, this is a medieval multiplayer hack and slack action game. Playable from either a third or first person point of view, it’s a sequel to 2012’s Chivalry: Medieval Warfare. Admittedly, the game scored a solid 82 on Metacritic and as one of my colleagues said just now, ‘It’s very fun’. Does it have the mass appeal needed for PS Plus though? That awaits to be seen.

Finally, Descenders is a biking game from Action Herk. You ride bikes downhill in an attempt to cycle your way to victory. The title has a score of 75. Two vehicle-based racing games in one month? Bold. As this is a leak, take it with a pinch of salt, but I’m sure this line-up will be confirmed later today.
