Starfield will get city maps, Bethesda confirms

Bethesda has confirmed that a future update will add city maps, as plans are put in place to support the game for years to come.

Starfield is just short of being a week old and is already a monumental success for Bethesda. Releasing on Xbox Series X/S and PC, the space-exploration RPG recently hit over six million players across both platforms.

Check out our review for Starfield below!

While there were plenty of bumps in the road, like those criticising the game’s disappointing space travel and planet exploration, Starfield is on track to be one of the most successful games of the year - potentially Game Of The Year, if it can beat its competitors.

Despite the game being enormous, with hours and hours of content ready to be seen and experienced, players already want more and are hoping for several content updates and DLC expansions in the years to come. Luckily, that’s seemingly what Bethesda has in mind, as it recently shared its plans to support the game for many more years, while it also works on new projects like The Elder Scrolls VI and Fallout 5.

The official Bethesda Twitter account shared a tweet thanking its fans for playing Starfield, and how the developer is “blown away” by the love and support the game has received so far. The tweet then said: “This is a game we’ll be supporting for years and years to come, so please keep all the feedback coming! Even if we don’t get to your requests immediately, we’d love to do it in the future, like city maps. Our priority initially is making sure any top blocker bugs or stability issues are addressed, and adding quality-of-life features that many are asking for.”

City maps have been something fans have been wanting since launch, as while the cities featured in the game look incredible, they can be a pain to navigate if you don’t know where everything is, so that’ll be a great addition to the game.

The tweet also said the team is working on “built-in mod support (Creations) that will work across all platforms similar to what we’ve done with Skyrim and Fallout 4,” and said fans can expect it “early next year.”
