Starfield is one of the next Xbox-exclusive games to be ported to the PlayStation 5, and it might just be the definitive version.
Bethesda has given us some incredible games over the years like The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Fallout 3, but arguably dropped the ball with Starfield.
The developer wanted its players to conquer the stars in a bold, new space-faring adventure unlike anything it had released prior, but the finished project felt soulless. Many accused Bethesda of misleading players in marketing, overhyping some of the in-game features like its open-galaxy and the depth of its quests.
This feels a bit harsh as Starfield isn’t a bad game, it just felt too similar to what had come from Bethesda before.

Months later the Shattered Space DLC dropped but did little to change public opinion, though perhaps the new Terran Armada expansion will be a different story.
Starfield launches on PS5 tomorrow alongside the Terran Armada DLC, and there are a number of exclusive features players will want to take advantage of compared to the Xbox version.

For starters you’re going to be getting better performance with the PlayStation 5 Pro since it’s more powerful than the Xbox Series X.
Using the power of PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution players will benefit from upscaled visuals whether they’re playing in Quality or Performance mode, making it the ideal way to experience Starfield’s rapidly expanding universe.
That said, the timing couldn’t be any worse now that Sony’s latest price-hike has gone into effect…

Players are also getting all of the benefits the PlayStation DualSense controller brings.
The controller’s light bar will change colour to indicate how much damage you’ve taken and how much health you’ve got left.
Adaptive triggers will hopefully make combat feel more intense, though the combat is arguably one of the weakest points of the game.

Audio from your allies will be blurted out through your controller speaker rather than the TV.
Finally the Touchpad will be utilised, allowing you to switch your character’s POV by pressing the left side of the pad, and open the map by pressing the right side. In-game menus can also be navigated by swiping.
These aren’t game-changers by any means but they’re certainly an improvement over the Xbox version.
Starfield’s PlayStation 5 port and the Terran Armada DLC both drop tomorrow, 7 April.
