Destined to never be forgotten in a world where its developers are under pressure to produce new instalments of its other franchises, Starfield has been promised a new DLC as Bethesda candidly drops its road map for 2027 and beyond.
Bethesda's most recent title continues to be one of the greatest intergalactic sci-fi games ever made, but focus has quickly been diverted away from Starfield.
The Xbox studio has been subject to bitter layoffs as part of a mass cut down within Microsoft's studios.
Alongside Obsidian and ZeniMax, two studios that have collaborated on Bethesda IPs, the developers have had a team restructure and strict instructions to begin producing games, quickly.

It comes as little surprise that franchises like Fallout and The Elder Scrolls have been scrutinised by Xbox, but Starfield looked to be the one title that was left largely ignored during this tumultuous time.
That is until today, as Bethesda released a statement outlining its new missions for 2027 and beyond, and Starfield is back at the forefront of its focus.
Earlier this year, Starfield fans were given the game's best edition to date as a new update added to the 10/10 score that we awarded it upon its original release.
Now, after surpassing 17 million players, the 2023 GOTY contender is now getting a bunch of new content for 2027.
Taking to a huge developer update status, Bethesda has promised a Settled Systems expansion and new Starborn content.
"Starfield remains an important part of our future," the studio said.
"As we enter Year 3, we'll continue expanding the Settled Systems with new stories, targeted gameplay improvements, and additional updates, while preparing for the launch of new Starborn content next year.
"More than 40% of players already customize their experience through Creations, and we'll continue investing in creators and giving players new ways to make Starfield their own."
These updates are set to be released before the end of 2027.

Bethesda is set up for a busy few years, despite now operating with a smaller workforce.
Not only will Starfield be getting well-needed love, but the Fallout franchise is making a massive comeback.
In the same statement, Bethesda revealed that Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas are both getting new updates, while a new game is being developed by Obsidian.
Then there's The Elder Scrolls. Todd Howard revealed that the game is being 'played every day' in the lab, and is nearing the end of its lengthy development phase.
Bethesda's three-pronged attack will likely kick off with Starfiled updates in 2027, as the tow other franchises will come in as blockbuster releases late into next year or beyond.
