Starfield New DLC Expansion Release Window Splits Gamers

What's this all leading to?

Bethesda’s space-exploration RPG Starfield has been somewhat getting the Cyberpunk 2077 treatment as of late, and a second upcoming DLC expansion could be getting an annoucement sooner than we think.

Starfield's previous DLC Shattered Space made some decent changes to the game, and its next expansion will seemingly be of a larger scale, which is exciting to say the least.

However the biggest problem with its post-launch support is how infrequent it’s all felt, for me at least. Shattered Space arrived months after the game first launched and while it did bring players back to the game many departed again shortly after finishing the DLC.

It’s been months further while we wait for the next expansion and while the teases we’ve had feel like they’re leading to something big, many fans are wondering if it’s even worth their attention.

New Starfield DLC Has Gamers Torn

Titled the Terran Armada, the next expansion has been a hot topic on Reddit, with many asking when we’ll likely see it and more importantly if it’ll be worth the wait.

“Honestly, the fact that we haven't seen anything on it yet absolutely baffles my mind” read one player’s opinion.

“I initially thought last summer,” they continued, “then I was hoping for TGS, then the Game Awards, and now I'm hoping it will be a surprise reveal at the upcoming showcase. But...realistically...it'll be the summer showcase. If we don't see anything then, I'll start to believe they might have abandoned the game.”

Xbox is holding a Developer Direct this evening where it’ll show off some new and existing projects coming to consoles this year.

While we don’t know what will be featured we can make a few guesses, and our first-look at the next Starfield expansion feels like a pretty safe bet to make.

All of this does leave me wondering how long we can expect Starfield to be supported though.

Bethesda has its fingers in a lot of pies right now and while it has multiple teams for different projects, like The Elder Scrolls VI and Fallout 76, it does make you question if its stretching itself a bit thin, especially when timelines are considered.

It’d be nice to see Starfield get a new lease on life like what happened with Cyberpunk 2077, but like CD Projekt Red’s open-world game Starfield will seemingly be forever tarnished by its overhyped launch.

Stay tuned for the Xbox Developer Direct later today, at 6pm for those in the U.K. We'll be bringing you all the latest coverage live!
