Starfield fans say Bethesda have "outdone" themselves following 12 month delay

Gamescom's Opening Night Live show presented us with a brand-new Starfield trailer, and the graphics are blowing fans away.

Aside from a surprise appearance from a 'Bill Clinton supporter', last night’s Gamescom opening show was a success. The event boasted new gameplay for titles like Call Of Duty Modern Warfare III and Black Myth Wukong, as well as announcements for entirely new games like Little Nightmares III.

Take a look at the new live-action Starfield trailer below.

Starfield unsurprisingly stole the show though, airing a brand-new trailer with stunning visuals and an amazing soundtrack. The graphics have been a talking point online, with many pointing out a significant improvement over what was shown in 2021.

Reddit user MartinTheTrue shared a comparison video on the Starfield subreddit, showing the same scene in the June 2022 trailer compared to yesterday’s 2023 trailer, and the difference is astronomical. Fans quickly shared their amazement at how different the graphics look compared to the previous showcase, and have praised Bethesda for giving the game the extra development time it needed with a 12 month delay.

“Those suits and helmets have NO BUSINESS looking that cool,” said one fan. “That backpack hand-off from Heller (?) to what's-her-face is so hard to do in game animation. I can guess why they cut around it back in 2022,” said another.

“Everything looks visually clearer to read now. The original contrast looked good but makes it a little harder to see the space/people because the lighting was so dramatic. Overall looks good! It's nuts how different just that one scene looks after a year," another comment read. One said Bethesda had "outdone" themselves.

Seems like there isn’t a single person who isn’t hyped for Starfield’s launch next month, and if its galaxy really looks as good as it did in yesterday’s trailer, space explorers will be in for a real treat.

Starfield officially launches on 6 September on Xbox Series X/S, digitally and via Xbox Game Pass, and PC. If you purchased the Constellation Edition, you’ll be able to play the game on 1 September via early-access.
