Protagonists John Marston and Arthur Morgan have gone down in video game history as some of the greatest fictional characters of all time, and it’s no wonder when their wits and charm are on full display throughout the stories.

However, as dashing as they may be, some fans may be surprised to hear that during Red Dead Redemption 2 the pair were younger than you might think, and other members of the Van Der Linde gang were older.

For those who haven’t seen it, a list of ages was shared on the Red Dead Redemption subreddit, many of which shocked viewers.

According to the list during the events of Red Dead Redemption 2 John Marston was 26, whereas Arthur Morgan was 10 years older at 36.

At first this might come as a surprise given their appearance but when you consider the sheer amount of life-threatening, stressful situations they find themselves in on a daily basis, it’s no wonder they look so haggard and grey.

Other surprising ages were Hosea at 55, with one fan saying he “looks like he's in his 60's, all gaunt and stuff.”

Another user said “Bill was younger than Arthur… Wtf”

Humorously one 36-year old fan said “Having survived the last 18 months, I get it.”

Surprising ages aside, it doesn’t diminish the beloved characters in the slightest, after all it certainly isn’t their first rodeo, and they pull off the rugged look quite nicely anyway.
