The Uncharted series has been dormant for quite some time, resting in a temple shrouded in darkness waiting for an intrepid adventurer to liberate it from its imprisonment. Now, it’s finally being freed.
Naughty Dog is arguably one of the all-time great PlayStation developers due to its work on Jak & Daxter, The Last of Us, and, of course, Uncharted.
As the fans look forward to the studio’s next game, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, they’re also excited to hear the beloved studio is a lot busier than we originally thought.
Several titles are reportedly being worked on behind closed doors including Intergalactic, The Last of Us Part 3 and the one we’ve all been waiting for, the next Uncharted game.
Teeny tiny teases for Uncharted 5 have slowly been trickling out over the past couple of months.

It’s believed the director of Uncharted: Lost Legacy, Shaun Escayg, will be leading this new project as they posted a cryptic teaser on their own Instagram page.
Now more has been leaked by insider Alir who claims to have some of the story details for Uncharted 5 in addition to a potential release date.
The story will supposedly mark a thief’s return as Nathan Drake will once again be the lead protagonist alongside his daughter Cassie.
Players will take control of both characters, which raises the question: will it finally give us a co-op campaign?

Probably not as while the Uncharted series has dipped its toes into multiplayer, the stories have always been predominantly single-player and if it isn’t broken, why try to fix it?
As for release dates, Alir reckons Naughty Dog has been working on the game for about three years now, but its release date is still a long way off.
Apparently 2029 seems like the most likely release window so if players are desperate for another treasure-hunt, they’ll have to wait for Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis dropping later this year.

The most interesting part about that 2029 release date is that it's bound to put Uncharted 5 into PlayStation 6 territory.
Sony is yet to confirm when it plans to release its next console but reports say sometime in 2027 so while Uncharted 5 probably won’t be a launch title, it’ll at least be a new-gen title.
The Uncharted series’ return has been long overdue and while it still sounds like a long way off, hopefully fans get to hear more about it soon.
