The Last of Us and Uncharted developer, Naughty Dog, has given us a big tease for its upcoming project, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.

For the most part, Naughty Dog is known for treating us to epic franchises such as Uncharted and The Last of Us, not to mention the likes of Crash Bandicoot and Jak & Dexter. However, fans have a totally new IP to look forward to with Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.

Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet was announced as the final reveal at The Game Awards 2024, a slot typically reserved for huge announcements such as this one, and not the colossal 2026 flop, Highguard. However, despite being announced well over a year ago, there’s still not a lot we know about the upcoming game.

What we do know so far is that it’s set thousands of years into the future, but has somewhat of a retro 80s theme, and it stars a bounty hunter named Jordan A. Mun, played by Tati Gabrielle (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, You).

We’ve Got an Update on Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet (Kinda)

As brought to our attention by GamesRadar, the writer and director of Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, Neil Druckmann, shared a photo on Instagram of actor Merle Dandrife in a motion capture suit, suggesting that production for the sci-fi adventure is well underway.

Merle Dandrife “is a n̶a̶t̶i̶o̶n̶a̶l̶ intergalactic treasure,” said the co-president of Naughty Dog. Dandrife has an extensive history with Druckmann productions, having played Marlene in The Last of Us video games and the live-action HBO series, as well as Evelyn in Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.

It’s not publicly known what character Merle will be playing in Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet at this time, but it’s huge news nonetheless that it seems production has already begun.

Is There a Gameplay Trailer for Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet?

There’s no extensive gameplay out in the wild at this time. We’ve only seen a couple of teases so far, with just a snippet of gameplay.

I would assume that with Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet still being in its motion capture phase, we’re probably some way off from seeing any extensive gameplay. The optimist in me hopes to see something by the end of 2026.

Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet Release Date

As of right now, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet does not have a release date. However, it is expected to arrive at some point in 2027 on PlayStation 5. We’ll keep you posted when we learn more.
