PlayStation Plus subscribers urged to check out 'fantastic' free game ASAP

If you're into third-person shooters, PlayStation Plus users are recommending that you check out Evil West.

PlayStation Plus’ latest extra and premium tier offerings are now available to download, adding to two already jam-packed catalogues.

In case you missed what’s now on offer, the extra tier catalogue is gaining NBA 2K24, Marvel's Midnight Suns, Resident Evil 3, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, Super Neptunia RPG, Blood Bowl 3, Mystic Pillars: Remastered, and LEGO DC Supervillains, whilst premium subscribers can also enjoy Jak and Daxter The Lost Frontier, Cool Boarders, Gods Eater Burst, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy, and JoJos Bizarre Adventure AllStar Battle R.

With so much choice on the service, it can be hard to know what to play next. Thankfully, PlayStation Plus’ incredible community is on hand to help with recommendations.

If you’re someone who downloads the service’s essential tier games on autopilot, given that they’re available to keep forever once you do so, you may want to revisit the January offerings as Evil West is proving to be a hit with some players.

Take a look at Evil West in action below.

“Evil West is fantastic,” began Reddit user wymore. “First off, January 2024 has to be one of the best months for PS Plus ever. I loved all three of the games. Evil West was the only one that I had no anticipation for and therefore played last, but it has ended up being my favourite of the bunch.”

“I haven't had this much fun in a single player campaign since Titanfall 2. Currently playing through again on NG+ which I almost never do. If you have this game sitting in your library, and you haven't gotten around to it yet, do it.”

That’s high praise, and wymore wasn’t the only one who felt this way.

“A decent AA game,” DARKRAKEN added, while walshurmouthout wrote, “I really enjoyed it. Just a campy third-person western shooter with sci-fi elements.”

Admittedly, Evil West may not be for everyone with some finding it to be a tad too repetitive and sluggish but if you are a fan of third-person shooters, it’s well worth a go.

After all, according to HowLongToBeat, it should only take you around 11 hours to roll credits on Evil West - and it boasts a respectable, if not mind blowing, score of 73 over on Metacritic.

If you missed downloading it during January and you just so happen to be a premium tier subscriber, there is a free trial available instead that allows you to sample two-hours of the game.
