PS5 users urged to claim free PlayStation Plus access

Gaming goodness!

PlayStation 5 gamers are urged to make the most out of this free PS Plus promotion, but it is only available this weekend.

No matter the subscription tier, there’s always a decent amount of value with Sony’s subscription service, PlayStation Plus. Each month, Sony announces a plethora of new games for us to enjoy, all included with the service.

Today, Sony announced the new additions for PlayStation Plus Essential for July 2025, and it includes some bangers, such as a huge multiplayer series from Activision Blizzard.

This month marks the 15th anniversary of PlayStation Plus since it first launched on the PS3 in June 2010. That seems like a lifetime ago when the service included nothing but games, and online gaming wasn't locked behind a paywall. Good times.

As part of the PS Plus celebrations, new trials will be added to the Premium service, including WWE 2K25 and Monster Hunter Wilds, as well as discounts and free DLC.

In my review of WWE 2K25, I said: “Visual Concepts has nailed its winning formula as it ascends the mountaintop and continues its role as the standard-bearer of pro wrestling games. WWE 2K25 is a fine example of knowing what makes a series a success, honing in on that but still offering plenty of new (and improved) content to keep players engaged.”

What’s more, for those who don’t subscribe to PlayStation Plus, you’ll have access to online gaming for free starting this Saturday, ending at 12:01am on Sunday (local time) as a free PS Plus online multiplayer weekend is being held. This offer is compatible with all PS5 and PS4 games that have multiplayer modes.

So, if you’re a console gamer who misses the days of not having to pay for online multiplayer (other than some free-to-play titles), then you might want to take advantage of this offer on the weekend, before it’s too late.
