PS Plus subscribers urged to check emails as surprise limited-time free gift surfaces

Time to celebrate!

PlayStation Plus subscribers are being urged to check their emails for a surprise free gift from Sony as the celebrations for 15 years of the service kick off.

Players are starting to report that they’ve received an email with a limited-time gift of up to 20% off products on the PlayStation Direct store.

The code only applies to accessories, so you won’t be able to snag a cheap PlayStation 5, but if you’re in need of a new controller, a pair of headphones, or even a PSVR 2 headset, then you’re in luck.

PlayStation is starting the 15-year celebration of PlayStation Plus in style with discounts and tournaments, and we wouldn’t be surprised to see some more free games given out throughout July.

If you’ve received the discount code via email, you’ll have until 9 July to use it.

There are no details whether this is limited to certain countries, so it’s a good idea to check the email connected to your PlayStation account, just in case.

Considering the PlayStation Portal is defined as an accessory, this would be a great time to buy the handheld hardware.

I’ll admit, I’ve been eyeing up a PlayStation Portal for a few months, so I’ll be watching my inbox with beady eyes, and likely trying to snag one of the remote players.

Since they added better cloud support to the Portal, fans have been loving the new way to play PlayStation games, and I wouldn’t mind being able to play Death Stranding 2 in bed.

Hopefully, we’ll hear more about the 15-year celebration as the days pass, but for now, Sony has started strong, offering discounts to loyal customers.

The subscription has long been a favourite feature for PlayStation fans, with millions of players building their gaming backlog through the free games offered every month.
