PlayStation Plus subscribers save big on Sony’s subscription service, but there is a catch.
Sony’s PlayStation Plus subscription service offers a lot of bang for your buck, regardless of whether you pay for the Essential, Extra or Premium tier. Of course, the higher the tier, the more games and perks you’ll have available.
For example, with PlayStation Plus Premium, you not only get everything that’s included in the Essential and Extra tiers, but also cloud streaming, which has two major benefits.
Firstly, you can play PlayStation titles just about anywhere in the world with a stable broadband connection. Secondly, you can play games at home without consuming precious storage space.

Then of course, you have a ton of retro games to play, from eras such as the OG PlayStation and PS2, trials that earn you trophies, a selection of curated movies, a Crunchyroll subscription and more.
“I got 25% off renewal for PS Plus Premium,” announced Redditor Flex_Huusko. “Not sure if it's because my renewal was coming up soon or not, but I got 25% off, figured I would let people know, just in case anyone else wants to grab one.”

While this saving is a nice one, there appears to be one major catch: the 25% discount only seems to activate when your yearly subscription is coming to an end. Basically, it’s the typical temptation to ensure that you don’t cancel your PS Plus subscription.
“I got the same deal, mine ends within two weeks,” replied gogo_gaga.
“I cancelled in August 2025, and in February 2026, they offered me 35% off - In the UK - reduced from £119 to £78.99 - so I renewed!” revealed AccordingDrag4691.

It might also be worth considering that this 25% discount was offered on a renewal via the PlayStation mobile app and not directly from the PS Store on the console. But sometimes, the same offers are available across all yearly tier subscriptions, as proven by xItsLesterx in the thread.
A discount like this is always nice, especially with costs rising in all walks of life, including yet another Sony price hike on PlayStation 5 consoles. To be honest, it wouldn't surprise me if PS Plus gets another increase this year, but I hope that I’m wrong.
